How long have you worked for PRG?
5 years in October 2012
Best part of working for PRG?
Working for such a large and well-established restaurant group, I have had the opportunity to connect with the community, as well as contribute to the continued growth of the culinary scene in Sacramento. I truly believe that Sacramento has the potential to be a world-class city and am very blessed to be in a position that gives me the platform to take action towards that goal. Oh, and I eat VERY well!
What’s your favorite part of your job?
Probably the food photography. It’s something I picked up along the way and has become part of my job, as well as a personal hobby.
First job ever:
I taught piano before I was old enough to work. My first REAL job was a barista at Starbucks… a skill that has come in handy on many occasions.
What is your favorite food to eat?
As a foodie, it’s really hard to pinpoint just ONE food item, but I’m pretty sure that I could eat burgers every day, all day. My vice is the Café Bernardo burger… medium rare with jack cheese and avocado.
What is your favorite food to cook?
I make a mean brunch… usually with ingredients that I pick up at the Farmer’s market. I’ll let people help me in the kitchen, but NO ONE touches the eggs but me. Cooking eggs takes some skill… something I have been working on for quite awhile, with the help and advice of the PRG chefs!
Drink of choice:
Bourbon… straight up, on the rocks, in a cocktail, pretty much any way as long as it’s not too sweet.
When not at work, you can find me…
At Metro EDGE events or out and about in midtown/downtown with friends (I call this ‘research’!). I also have a passion for elevating the arts community in Sacramento so I like to attend gallery shows, theatre, concerts, etc.
What are your indulgences?
My current indulgence would have to be the gourmet popsicles at Bows and Arrows. The apricot lavender is DELISH.
What is your favorite TV show?
Anthony Bourdain’s No Reservations or Top Chef. As for non-foodie, I’m addicted to Game of Thrones!
What do you do for fun?
My job IS fun! I have the privilege of having delicious meals cooked for me most of the time, but I also enjoy cooking and entertaining for friends and family.
Best PRG memory:
I have a lot of great memories, but I would have to say the Grand Opening party of Cosmo Café because it was the first restaurant project that I had witnessed from the beginning. We had a great turnout at the event, including many of my family and friends, which made it all the more special. Even though the restaurant closed a few years later (now Café Bernardo/KBAR), the experience will always be a positive memory for me.
I was an extremely picky eater when I was younger! I gagged at the thought of seafood… and now I LOVE it! Just goes to show that no matter what you think you like/don’t like, you should always try it again.
