PRG has been recognized and respected for decades throughout Northern California for its unique brands, consistent quality, and maverick restaurant concepts. In 1969, Randy Paragary opened his first establishment, a bar named Parapow Palace and Saloon, in Midtown Sacramento. In 1974, Paragary opened his first restaurant, an Italian eatery named The Arbor. Paragary’s Bar and Oven was established in 1983, introducing Sacramento to its first wood-fired pizza oven as well as the “farm to fork” concept of sourcing ingredients locally. In 1990 with the opening of Capitol Grill and new business partners Kurt Spataro and Stacy Paragary, the Paragary Restaurant Group was formed. PRG operates 14+ stores, including Paragary’s, Cafe Bernardo (four in Sacramento, one in Davis), Esquire Grill, Hock Farm Craft & Provisions, Centro Cocina Mexicana, Bernardo Bar, Berkley Bar, Monkey Bar and R15 Bar. PRG also operates its own independent bakery, which bakes and delivers bread, pastries, desserts and pastas daily to each location.
PRG provides guests a combination of food, service and atmosphere that is unique to each concept, while maintaining high quality and consistency. A strong relationship with local farms and vendors, built over the past three decades, allows the chefs and bartenders to consistently create seasonal menus using the highest quality ingredients.
